There are plenty of ways to start a morning in Naples, but for me, it usually begins with coffee.
Over the years, coffee shops have become much more than places where I stop for caffeine. They're where I catch up on emails, meet friends and customers, get a little work done, or simply sit for a few minutes and watch Naples go about its day.
And while Naples certainly isn't short on places to grab a cup of coffee, there are a handful that I find myself returning to again and again.
This isn't meant to be a ranking of the "best" coffee shops in Naples. Taste is far too personal for that. These are simply my five favorite coffee shops in Naples, each for a slightly different reason.
So, starting with the place anyone who knows me probably expected to see first...
1. The Brick Coffee & Bar
531 5th Avenue South, Naples
If you've spent much time with me in downtown Naples, there's a pretty good chance you've either seen me at The Brick or heard me mention it.
Located right on Fifth Avenue South, The Brick Coffee & Bar has become part of my regular Naples routine. It's one of my favorite places to start the morning, get some work done, meet someone for coffee, or simply sit outside and enjoy everything happening along Fifth Avenue.
What I enjoy most about The Brick is that it feels connected to downtown Naples. You have locals heading to work, visitors exploring Fifth Avenue, people meeting friends, and plenty of familiar faces passing by.
For me, that's part of what makes a great local coffee shop. The coffee matters, of course, but so does the atmosphere and the people.
The Brick offers indoor and outdoor seating along with coffee, espresso drinks, breakfast and light food options. It also stays open considerably later than many traditional coffee shops, making it just as easy to stop by later in the day.
But mornings are still my favorite.
A cup of coffee, a seat along Fifth Avenue, and a little Naples people-watching is a pretty good way to start the day.
2. Three Sixteen
13500 Tamiami Trail N., Naples
Three Sixteen brings something a little different to the Naples coffee scene.
Located in North Naples near Wiggins Pass, it's one of those places where the presentation, atmosphere, pastries, and coffee all feel very intentional.
The interior has a clean, modern feel that makes it an enjoyable place to slow down for a while rather than simply grab a coffee and leave. Their specialty coffee and espresso drinks are complemented by an impressive selection of pastries, particularly their croissants and danishes.
It's also a great example of how much the coffee culture around Naples has evolved. We're seeing more locally distinctive cafés where the experience is every bit as important as what's in the cup.
When I'm in North Naples and want something beyond the typical coffee run, Three Sixteen is one of the places that comes to mind.
3. Wolfmoon
1780 Commercial Drive, Naples
Wolfmoon might have the most unexpected setting on this list.
The Naples location shares its surroundings with Kaleidoscope Floral, creating a combination of coffee shop, bakery, garden, florist, and gathering space that feels completely different from your typical café.
And that's exactly why I like it.
The outdoor garden area is a major part of the experience. Surrounded by flowers and greenery, it's an easy place to forget for a moment that you're just a short distance from the busier parts of Naples.
Wolfmoon is particularly well known for its fresh croissants and specialty coffee drinks, but I think the atmosphere is what makes this place memorable.
It's the kind of coffee shop I'd recommend to someone who wants to discover one of those tucked-away Naples spots they might otherwise drive right past.
Grab a coffee, find a spot outside, and don't be in too much of a hurry.
4. Porsche Studio Naples Café
625 5th Avenue South, Naples
Yes, you can actually go to Porsche for coffee.
And you don't need to buy a 911 first.
The café inside Porsche Studio Naples is open to the public and is one of the more unusual coffee experiences you'll find downtown.
Located on Fifth Avenue South, the Studio combines a café with Porsche design, vehicles, merchandise, lounges, and an overall atmosphere that's much closer to a lifestyle space than a traditional automobile showroom.
The café serves espresso drinks, cold brew and other beverages using locally roasted Southwest Florida coffee beans, along with pastries and light bites.
Even if you're not particularly interested in cars, it's worth stopping in simply because it's such a different concept. If you are a Porsche or automotive enthusiast, the coffee becomes an added bonus.
I enjoy places that add something interesting to Naples rather than simply duplicating what's already here, and Porsche Studio definitely checks that box.
It's polished, different and very Naples.
5. Bean to Cup Coffee Lounge
3570 Bayshore Drive, Naples
Rounding out my five is Bean to Cup Coffee Lounge.
Located on Bayshore Drive, Bean to Cup has a completely different personality from the downtown coffee shops on this list. It's relaxed, comfortable, and has a great outdoor area along the water that gives you another reason to stay awhile.
Along with traditional coffee and espresso drinks, Bean to Cup offers cold brew, smoothies, juices, baked goods and lighter breakfast and lunch options.
I particularly like that this one gives you an excuse to explore the Bayshore area, which has developed its own personality within Naples.
It's casual, a little tucked away, and exactly the kind of locally flavored place I enjoy discovering.
Coffee Shops Are Part of the Naples Experience
One of the things I love about Naples is that you can experience completely different versions of the city within a relatively short drive.
You can start your morning watching Fifth Avenue wake up at The Brick, head north for a beautifully presented coffee and pastry at Three Sixteen, disappear into the garden at Wolfmoon, drink an espresso surrounded by Porsche design, or relax beside the water at Bean to Cup.
They're all coffee shops.
But they're five completely different Naples experiences.
And that's really what this list is about.
After living and working in the Naples real estate market for years, I've found that some of the best ways to understand this community have nothing to do with houses. They're the places you return to, the people you get to know, the neighborhoods you explore and the little routines that eventually make a place feel like home.
For me, coffee shops are part of that.
These five just happen to be my favorites.
And with so many great locally owned and unique businesses throughout Naples, I'm sure this list will continue to evolve.
